My First Gravel Ride

I finished up my first gravel bike ride a week and a half ago. I’m new to this scene. It’s a community of cyclists who love going for long rides and challenging themselves. Most rides I’ve heard of are at least 50 miles long, wind through country gravel roads, and are unsupported. That means you need to carry everything you need with you.

Knowing you’re going to be pedaling a long way also means you don’t want to carry anything you won’t need. I’m so thankful that my brothers have been doing these rides for years. Patrick was able to tell me what I needed and what I didn’t. Without him, I might have lugged an extra 5 lbs. of gear with me for 53.5 miles. That would have been no good. Patrick also rode with me through the whole race, making sure I had a good time. Thanks, Patrick!

I like to serve as the same sort of guide when I help people review their insurance needs. I am licensed to sell life insurance and long-term care insurance in Minnesota, but I really spend most of my time helping people figure out how they can save money on their policies. I don’t want them keeping policies they don’t need or paying for policies that are more expensive than they should be.

There are legitimate needs for life insurance and long-term care insurance. The problem is I find too many insurance policies that have extra baggage added in for the insurance company’s benefit. They can tell you a sob story about when it was once needed, but the math says it’s a waste of money. Don’t carry more expenses in your insurance policies than you need. It will weigh down your budget over your lifetime.
